Prairie Creek Conservation Cemetery offers more than natural burial. As a Conservation Burial Ground, we have earned the highest certification offered by the Green Burial Council. This classification recognizes the work we do at the intersection of ecology and community. We are honored by the opportunity to serve those who wish to be buried at PCCC while simultaneously working diligently to steward and restore the land in a just and impactful way.
As a Conservation Burial Ground, PCCC operates under a Conservation Easement to ensure proper ecological practices as we navigate the intersection between nature and community. This Easement is held by our land partners, Alachua Conservation Trust (ACT).
Our Conservation Easement details specifics regarding what can and cannot be placed in the land, what practices must be in place for burial, and how the land should be stewarded.
The existence of this easement is integral to our long-term operations. Through its existence, ACT and PCCC can guarantee that the land of Prairie Creek Preserve - including the cemetery - will be legally protected in perpetuity. The stipulations regarding human impacts will forever prevent the exploitation, destruction, or development of this living memorial
Our Conservation Easement offers the structure upon which our operations are built. This document, coupled with the final wishes of those who choose natural burial and the support we receive from community members such as you make it possible to protect the natural spaces of North Central Florida for generations to come.
